It’s really strange. I posted about being a female comic-book fan yesterday, and set up a blog to talk about comics, and now I suddenly find out that there’s such a thing as Laydeez Do Comics and that it’s an international project. Not only that, but the very first meeting of the Dublin group is next Wednesday. I mean, what are the coincidental odds of that?
The meeting will take place from 7pm – 9.30pm on Wednesday the 22 May, 2013 in the Rooftop Bar, 3rd floor, of the Odessa Club (really close to where I work), 13 Dame Court, Dublin 2. Suggested donation of €3-5.
There’s guest speakers and everything – Sarah McIntyre, Alan Nolan, and Maeve Clancy.
-
Sarah McIntyre will discuss her approach to promoting her work via events and social media, and balancing it with her work schedule.
-
Alan Nolan will talk about the monthly comic book strip he’s drawn for The Irish Times called Skrewy Science with Prof Butterknut & Kronk.
-
Maeve Clancy will talk about her work in the community, such as her current job documenting a craft/youth/mental health project through comics.
Curiouser and curiouser.
