Researching is the best part of novel writing, because you’re not actually writing and therefore the project is still exactly as it is in your head. Finding these vintage photographs me helping me with two things – the is for my current novel, and a future novel.
The novels aren’t the same genre or even set in the same time period at all; one is literary fiction with a heavy flavour of 19th Century Gothic Fiction while the other is a science fiction steampunk historical fiction kind of a mashup.

Aren’t they just fab? I love the ones that catch people smiling. You rarely see those in the more formal portraits of the time.
